Corporate Summary (site quote):

ThermoGenesis Corp. is a leader in enabling technologies for cell therapeutics. The Company's technology platforms lead the world in their ability to produce biological products from single units of blood.

Umbilical cord blood banks are utilizing the Company's BioArchive® System as a critical enabling technology for cryogenic archiving of stem cells for transplant, while its CryoSeal FS System is used to prepare hemostatic and adhesive surgical sealants from patient blood in about an hour.

ThermoGenesis Corp. has been a leading supplier of state-of-the-art Ultra-Rapid Blood Plasma Freezers and Thawers to hospitals and blood banks since 1992.

The BioArchive® System was the first product developed under the BioArchive® Platform. In collaboration with The New York Blood Center (NYBC), the Company developed three disposable blood processing bag sets, two of which provide a sterile method for collecting, concentrating and cryopreserving stem and progenitor cells contained in placental/umbilical cord blood (PCB). The third bag set is used at the time of transplant to assure viability of the cells as they mix with the patient's blood. The disposable bag sets are licensed to Medsep Corporation, a Division of Pall Corp. for manufacturing and distribution in North America and Europe, and Nissho Corporation in Japan. These life-giving stem cells are targeted for patients suffering from malignancies and diseases of the blood and immune system such as leukemia, lymphomas, diverse inherited anemias, immunodeficiencies, acquired aplastic anemia and hypoproliferative disorders.

The National Institute of Health (NIH), through the National Heart, Lung & Blood Institute, sponsored a $30 million program to advance PCB stem cell banking in the U.S. and has chosen to exclusively utilize the three BioArchive® disposable bag sets. Two of the three NHLBI PCB Banks, Duke University and Georgetown University, have already acquired the BioArchive.
