Stem Cell Sciences (SCS) is an international company with centres in the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan.
It has been active in the stem cell research field since 1994, principally focused on technologies to grow, differentiate, select and purify embryonic stem cells. The company now has a substantial portfolio of patents and patent applications within these areas. These include technologies to permit the generation and genetic selection of unlimited quantities of highly purified stem cells and their differentiated progeny for use in genetic, pharmacological and toxicological screens. Moreover, these technologies can be utilised to provide pure populations of appropriate cell types for transplantation therapies.
SCS is is currently endeavouring to produce new human embryonic stem cell lines that will not be exposed to animal products and therefore be more suitable for clinical applications. In addition SCS are developing new methods of neural differentiation to better understand these processes prior to therapeutic application.
SCS has pursued early-stage development of NS and Selection Technology for clinical applications as part of a leading European stem cell initiative and will be partnered in Japan by SCS-KK.
SCS prides itself with the relationship it has with its academic partners which has placed SCS at the forefront of embryonic stem cell research. Stem Cell Sciences has a long established track record in securing research and licensing deals with International Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical companies.
