Geron Corp Announces Fourth Quarter and Annual 2005

I guess its time to get back into the investment side of things again. I know .. sometimes is not that interesting, but for those of us that watch both sides of the fence of stem cell research .. (that being the science and the stocks) .. we all can likely recognize from investment comes discoveries.

Geron is one of the big boys in stem cell research and stem cell therapy development. So ...

Geron is reporting a net loss for the fourth quarter of 2005 was $8.9 million or $(0.14) per share, compared to $9.5 million or $(0.20) per share for the comparable 2004 period. For fiscal 2005, the company had a net loss of $33.5 million or $(0.58) per share, compared to a net loss of $80.4 million or $(1.79) per share in fiscal 2004.

Not too sexy that .. but more ...

ATLANTA, GA and EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND – October 6 , 2005 – Serologicals Corporation (NASDAQ: SERO) announced today that Chemicon International, Inc., its wholly-owned subsidiary, and Stem Cell Sciences Holdings LTD (LSE:STEM), have signed an exclusive agreement to manufacture and market novel patent-protected embryonic stem (ES) cell media for the research market.

Chemicon International Announces Agreement with Axordia for Exclusive Co-Development of Human Embryonic Stem Cell Antibody Markers

ATLANTA, GA and SHEFFIELD, UK – September 30, 2005 – Serologicals Corporation (NASDAQ: SERO) announced today that Chemicon International, Inc., its wholly-owned subsidiary, and Axordia Ltd. have signed an exclusive agreement to co-develop new antibody markers from Axordia's proprietary human embryonic stem (ES) cell lines.

Under the terms of this agreement, Axordia will contribute proprietary expertise and materials for antibody generation and antibody characterization and Chemicon will commercialize the new antibody research tools arising from this collaboration.

Stem Cell Therapeutics Corp. and Medicon A/S Announce the Submission of Proposed NTx(TM)-265 European Phase I Clinical Trial Study to the Danish Regulatory Agency

CALGARY, Oct. 3 /CNW/ - Stem Cell Therapeutics Corp. ("SCT") announced today that Medicon A/S ("Medicon") of Birkerod, Denmark has submitted a Phase 1 clinical trial study protocol to the Danish Regulatory Agency on behalf of SCT for its NTx(TM)-265 program for the treatment of stroke. Stroke, the third leading cause of death in the United States and second worldwide, has an incidence of 700,000 patients in the U.S. each year.

With currently available therapies, less than 4% of stroke patients are treated with interventional drugs. The American Heart Association estimated the economic costs in the US at $54B in 2004.

Stem Cell Therapeutics Corp. and Medicon A/S Sign Contract to Perform Phase I Clinical Study

CALGARY, Sept. 29 /CNW/ - Stem Cell Therapeutics Corp. ("SCT") announced today that they have signed a contract with Medicon A/S ("Medicon") of Birkerod, Denmark to perform a Phase I clinical trial.

The contract encompasses submission of SCT's Phase I clinical trial protocol, screening, conduct and reporting of trial results. This agreement follows the successful clinical trial feasibility assessment and positive regulatory response that Medicon and SCT have achieved to date.

Stem Cell Therapy International Signs Exclusive License Agreement for the Supply of Stem Cells and Use of 26 Related Patents from the Institute of Cell Therapy In Kiev, Ukraine

TAMPA, Fla. - Sept. 19, 2005 - Stem Cell Therapy International, Inc. (OTC: ATYD) today announced that it has signed an exclusive global Licensing Agreement with the Institute of Cell Therapy (ICT) a biotechnology company incorporated and organized in Kiev, Ukraine, for the supply of stem cells and use of 26 related patents.

The agreement is in effect for a period of ten (10) years with an option to renew for another ten (10) and covers access to a worldwide territory for Stem Cell Therapy International, except for five countries, yet to be named.

Viacell Suspends Enrollment in CB001 Phase I Clinical Trial

Cambridge, MA, September 19, 2005 - ViaCell, Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAC) today announced that it has suspended enrollment in its Phase I clinical trial of CB001, an investigational cord blood stem cell product for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation being studied for the treatment of a variety of cancers.

Of the eight patients who have completed treatment in the study, two experienced Grade IV acute graft-versus-host-disease, or aGVHD, a known potential side effect in transplantation. Both patients have recovered from the aGVHD, however, under the study protocol, the occurrence of two cases calls for a suspension of enrollment in the trial.

Geron Corporation Announces Exercise Of Over-Allotment Option

Menlo Park, CA – September 20, 2005 – Geron Corporation (Nasdaq: GERN) today announced that on Monday, September 19, 2005, the underwriters of its public offering of six million shares of common stock have exercised their over-allotment option in full to purchase 900,000 additional shares, resulting in an additional gross public offering price of $8.1 million.
