Samaritan Pharmaceuticals Announces Alzheimer Stem Cell Treatment
A new Alzheimer adult stem cell drug called SP-sc04 has being announced by stem cell research firm, Samaritan Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AMEX:LIV).
The goal of this new drug is to trigger normally dormant brain neuronal stem cells to differentiate into adult neuron cells.

Cytori Therapeutics Posts Study on Adipose Stem Cells to Treat Cardiovascular Disease
Cytori Therapeutics, Inc. has published of a summary of new research, by Cytori scientists on the potential of adipose stem cells in cardiac cell therapy.
This latest article, titled "Plasticity of human adipose stem cells toward endothelial cells and cardiomyocytes," will be appearing in the Cardiovascular Medicine Supplement of Nature Clinical Practice, is available online this week.

Cord Blood Collection Company Biocord Ltd Seeking Capital
Cord blood as we all know is one of the hot "controversy free" methods of collecting umbilical cord stem cells for both research and a growing variety of stem cell therapies.
Biocord Ltd. has entered the growing number of cord blood collection companies with a medical device that it hopes to market to hospitals and health care facilities.
This one however, gets away from the "traditional" (hate to traditional .. makes it sound like this has been going on for decades) needle extraction methods.

Geron Corp Announces Fourth Quarter and Annual 2005
I guess its time to get back into the investment side of things again. I know .. sometimes is not that interesting, but for those of us that watch both sides of the fence of stem cell research .. (that being the science and the stocks) .. we all can likely recognize from investment comes discoveries.
Geron is one of the big boys in stem cell research and stem cell therapy development. So ...
Geron is reporting a net loss for the fourth quarter of 2005 was $8.9 million or $(0.14) per share, compared to $9.5 million or $(0.20) per share for the comparable 2004 period. For fiscal 2005, the company had a net loss of $33.5 million or $(0.58) per share, compared to a net loss of $80.4 million or $(1.79) per share in fiscal 2004.
Not too sexy that .. but more ...

Vitro Announces Advances in Its Stem Cell Technology
AURORA, CO - Nov 8, 2005 - Vitro Diagnostics, Inc. (OTCBB:VODG), dba Vitro Biopharma, announced completion of significant milestones in the development of its stem cell technology for use in diabetes treatment.
The Company had previously generated 29 adult human beta islet stem cell lines and filed for patent protection.
The new advances include a process to induce differentiation of functional beta cells from these stem cells that contain and release insulin in response to elevated glucose levels.

GE Healthcare and ThermoGenesis Announce Worldwide Distribution Agreement and R&D Collaboration
CHALFONT ST. GILES, England and RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif., Oct. 14 - GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), and ThermoGenesis (Nasdaq: KOOL) announced today a global distribution agreement and R&D partnership. The companies will jointly present the AXP(TM) AutoXpress Platform, a closed and automated system for harvesting mononuclear cells (MNC) from cord blood, at the AABB Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington on October 17th and 18th.
This cell population contains the hematopoietic stem cells used to treat more than 60 malignant, genetic and acquired diseases, such as leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell anemia, thalassemia and immunodeficiency.

Osiris Launches a Phase II Clinical Trial for Severe Graft vs Host Disease
BALTIMORE, Maryland October 12, 2005 Osiris Therapeutics, Inc. announced today that it has received clearance from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to conduct a Phase II trial to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of its lead investigational stem cell drug, Prochymal, for the rescue of patients with the most severe form of acute graft vs. host disease (GVHD).
So called treatment-refractory GVHD occurs when patients fail to respond to conventional therapy and is fatal in more than 80% of cases.
