Tretinoin Stem Cells and Balding

We get a good many queries regarding stem cell research and cosmetic procedures. Specifically, we have lots of users that are looking for stem cells and balding, both for purely cosmetic reasons and for hair growth options following chemotherapy.

To address this, we started looking around and found references to tretinoin stem cell treatments.

The current research involves well known products such as Retin-A and Minoxidil which are widely used products for hair loss treatment procedures. Keeping this in mind, we will not promote any particular products other than these, as beyond this, we cannot find any stem cell related research that targets these products. However, we can look at the stem cell research that does focus on hair regrowth and balding.

Breast Grown From Stem Cells

The Harvard University Gazette is reporting that stem cell researchers in Australia have developed a complete and functioning breast grown from a single stem cell.

This procedure was done using mouse cells. However, most experts believe it won't be long before it this technology is available for humans.

Scaffolding Allows Stem Cells To Become Functional Fat Cells

First off, I know .. not the sort of headline most Americans really want to hear .. but hey .. it does go deeper than that.

Researchers in Columbus, Ohio have used a new microscopic, three-dimensional scaffolding to get mouse stem cells to transform into fat cells. Then further to actually function identically to the way fat cells normally do in the body.

Other studies before have grown fat cells (adipocytes) in the laboratory, those cells never completely functioned the same way they do in normal tissue.

Specifically, they failed to produce the genetic and biologic components that cells require to work....

New Teeth Possible Through Stem Cell Research

There may soon be a time when dentists offer to provide people with missing or damaged teeth grow new ones, according to the latest stem cell research presented on yesterday.

Recent presentations at a dental meeting have demonstrate that some techniques using stem cells combined with gene therapy to regenerate teeth are producing promising results .. which suggests that this technique may not be far off.

"I think it's looking like quite an exciting technology for the near future," said Dr. Tony Smith, editor of the Journal of Dental Research, who was not involved in any of the newest studies....

Washington: Stem Cells May Me Used to Grow New Teeth

Afflicted with a rare genetic disorder, ectodermal dysplasia, which affects teeth, skin, hair and nails, Schuermann, 27, had only four pointed teeth and sparse hair at age 3, when he got his first set of dentures after his natural teeth were removed.

Although he got dental implants at age 12 and has a seemingly perfect smile, now, as then, harder foods are a problem "I could not eat peanuts," said Schuermann, of San Antonio.

He is excited about a scientific discovery announced Thursday - that adult stem cells harvested from baby or wisdom teeth may allow him and others to grow new teeth naturally.

Pamela Gehron Robey, National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research's chief of craniofacial and skeletal diseases branch, said the institute discovered the potential of cells from deciduous, or baby teeth, and third molars to replace missing teeth.

Illinois: UofI in Chicago Evaluates Stem Cells for Breast Implants

Silicone or Saline breast implants could one day be a thing of the past. The latest research looks at replacing the current implants with tissue grown from a person's own stem cells within a decade, suggests new research.

Jeremy Mao of the University of Illinois, in Chicago, US, took human stem cells and used these to grow fat tissue using a biologically compatible scaffolding. He then successfully implanted the tissue into mice with an immune deficiency to prevent them from rejecting the implants. The implants had maintained their size and shape after four weeks.

"This is a project that builds on previous knowledge to develop a stem cell material that could be useful in society," says Mao. "It seems promising and could soon be making an impact."

Chicago: Stem Cell Research May Provide Better Looking Cosmetic Surgery

Stem cell researchers have shown that cosmetic surgery, such as wrinkle removal and breast augmentation, may actually beimproved with natural implants that keep their original size and shape better rather than the current synthetic implants.

In the near future cosmetic surgery might be performed with stem-cell generated natural tissues instead of synthetic implants.

As is well known, saline and silicone implants for breast augmentation can rupture, leak, and interfere with breast cancer detection on mammograms.

Stem cell generated natural tissue implants should avoid these problems...

Stem Cell Research Targeting Hair Loss or Baldness

Interestingly enough, we see a good many queries here looking for news regardingly hair loss or male pattern balding. So I thought it might be good to dig a bit and see whats out there. Not suprising, there is quite a bit.

Just as stem cells are seen as possible treatment solutions for organ repair such as the heart and spinal cord, similar research involving our most widespread organ .. our skin .. has researchers looking at possible cosmetic applications.

From work done at hair loss clinics to research in purely biotech or biology labs, there is no shortage of information out there ..

Our least attended field of Stem Cell Research .. Cosmetic

I know, I know .. we have the catagory, and knew that this area would get a good bit of attention, but I for one have not found many solid articles that address cosmetic procedures as they pertain to stem cell research. With that in mind, I thought I would do some deeper digging and see what I could come up with as well..

It appears that the ability to stimulate stem cells to generate autogenous bone has been demonstrated in the laboratory. A novel application of computer technology that integrates laser surface scanning and digitizing with computer-aided design and manufacturing to produce facial prostheses has been described....
