ALACHUA, Fla., Oct 13, 2005 - Victor G. Robinson has joined Ixion Biotechnology as controller.

Formerly a senior auditor with Bruno & Tervalon LLP, CPAs, in New Orleans, Robinson is responsible for interpreting and reporting Ixion's financial and accounting information, analyzing capital expenditure proposals and long range planning.

The Dillard University, New Orleans, accounting graduate is also responsible for managing internal and external accounting functions and the Company's relationships with independent auditors.

Stephen Bartelmez, Ph.D., Ixion's president and CEO, says Robinson will help lead the company as it moves to exclusively focus on cellular therapy for diabetes.

"We've made a lot of changes in the last few months, taking Ixion from a well-known pre-clinical stem cell biotech to one which is determined to make ex vivo generation of human islets followed by transplantation a reality," Bartelmez says. "Victor offers a decade of accounting experience and a fresh look at how we can maximize Ixion's operations. We're also happy to offer Victor and Christian a new home after the crippling effects of Katrina."

Founded in 1993, Ixion is developing somatic cellular therapies to treat diabetes, based on selecting, proliferating, and directing the differentiation of adult stem cells into insulin-producing islet preparations for transplantation. The biotechnology company holds a portfolio of U.S. and international patents (both issued and pending) and exclusive licenses relating to its activities.
