CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., Aug. 22, 2005 - U.S. BioDefense, Inc. (OTCBB:UBDE) CEO David Chin is pleased to announce that it will sponsor Cambridge Healthtech Institute's Inaugural "Stem Cell Research" conference. The Conference will be hosted at the University Park Hotel at MIT in Cambridge, Mass., and will run from August 29th, 2005 thru August 31st, 2005.
Direct of Research Dr. Cyndi Chen will be in attendance to build awareness of the company's Neural Crest Stem Cell commercialization strategy and to secure network with other leading researchers in the field. U.S. BioDefense, Inc. (OTCBB:UBDE) recently submitted a letter of intent (LOI) in response to the Michael J. Fox Foundation's Community Fast Track 2005 (CFT 2005) to propose the development of an authentic human dopamineric (DA) neuron cell line. The grant program is supported by the Michael J. Fox Foundation and other regional and national Parkinson's organizations. Under this grant program, researchers are invited to submit investigator-initiated grant applications to conduct new, novel or innovative research relevant to the cure, cause, prevention or improved treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD) and its complication once the LOI is approved.
In addition, Dr. Chen was invited to Chair the Wednesday morning (August 31) Realizing Therapeutic Potential session. Presenters include Dr. Donald Fink, Jr., Biologist, Office of Cellular, Tissue and Gene Therapies, US Food and Drug Administration and Dr. Scott Burger, Managing Director of Advanced Cell & Gene Therapy, LLC.
The Cambridge Healthtech Institute's "Stem Cell Research" conference marks the first forum bringing together executives from industry, politics, academia and science to discuss the promise of stem cell research.

"As U.S. BioDefense strives to be the leader in Stem Cell innovation, we are proud to be part of this unique event that will bring together potential collaborators and further advance Stem Cell Research," said David Chin, CEO.
Rapid progress in stem cell research has captured the attention of both the public and biotechnology/pharmaceutical sectors and has great potential for the advancement of medical science. As with all new basic scientific and technological knowledge, careful and rigorous examination of the science of stem cell biology is required before unwise applications of stem cell therapy be used. One fundamental question being asked in this field is "what is stemness - how is it maintained and how is differentiation initiated or triggered?" Understanding the complexity of such signaling pathways is critical to advancing the use of these cells for drug discovery and development as well as other therapeutic applications. Cambridge Healthtech Institute's Inaugural Stem Cell Research addresses two emerging themes in this field: a fundamental understanding of stem cell biology and a view toward drug and therapeutic development.
"By participating in the inaugural Stem Cell Research conference, we are moving forward to further the research and find possible therapeutic treatments. This conference will allow us the opportunity to join forces with other academia and industry leaders to push the most promising findings to the next level," said Dr. Cyndi Chen, Director of Research.
About Cambridge Healthtech Institute
Cambridge Healthtech Institute's (CHI) renowned conferences are the underpinning for all our other information resources. Each year, approximately 60 conferences are held throughout the US and Europe. Conference programs are designed to be a useful, timely and effective supplement to specialized journals, newsletters, and other meetings. We strive to develop quality programs that provide valuable new insights and competing points of view, while offering balanced coverage of the latest developments. Basic research related to commercial implications is covered, with heavy emphasis placed on new products and technology still in the evaluation stage. Experts from both academic and commercial laboratories present their most current scientific research in a forum that features panel discussions and audience participation.
Additionally, our conferences provide organizations with a unique opportunity to reach a highly targeted scientific audience. CHI events facilitate interaction with key decision-makers from leading pharmaceutical and biotech organizations. This format offers companies who sponsor or exhibit at a CHI event direct access to individuals who are interested in their products and services. In the past 13 years, CHI has produced over 300 conferences, attracting more than 40,000 attendees from around the world.
