Massachusetts Priest Ordered By Archdiocese To Stop Stem Cell Protest

The Archdiocese of Boston has ordered a priest to stop demonstrating outside state Senate President Robert E. Travaglini's home. He is protesting over the politician's position on embryonic stem cell research.

The Rev. Thomas DiLorenzo has recently spent several days demonstrating outside Travaglini's East Boston home along with several from his parish at the Holy Rosary Parish in Winthrop.....

DiLorenzo told the Boston Sunday Globe that he was told by the Boston archdiocese to stay away from Travaglini's duplex. Archdiocese spokeswoman Kelly Lynch further confirmed that the request was made.

DiLorenzo said he was told to stay away from the home after he wrote Travaglini a letter that mentioned one of the senator's children as well as his position on stem cell research.

Last month, the Democrat said he would try to be attentive to DiLorenzo's objections, but that he would not abandon his legislation promoting stem cell research in Massachusetts.
