NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 25, 2005--Overview of Bay State Poll Results:

Approval Rating

-- The approval rating of Governor Mitt Romney has plummeted 13% from an all time Bay State Poll high 56% three months ago to an all time Bay State Poll low of 43%.

Economy

-- All six Bay State Poll indicators of people's perceptions of the health of the national economy, the state economy, and their own personal finances have fallen in the last three months.

Stem Cell Issue

-- A majority of those polled (56.9%) support the Legislature's idea that creating embryos to produce stem cells should be permitted. The Governor's position, that this process amounts to cloning and should be banned, is supported by 35.2% of state residents. ....

Big Dig

-- 8 in 10 state residents believe that the visible problems with the Big Dig indicate major flaws in the project. 4 in 10 think that these major structural flaws threaten public safety.

Red Sox ticket prices

-- Nearly half of those polled (46.2%) indicated they would like more affordable ticket prices, even if it meant paying players less and fielding a less competitive team.

These findings come from the Bay State Poll, a quarterly survey of Massachusetts's residents, conducted by the Center for Public Opinion Research at Merrimack College. Six hundred and two (602) randomly selected state residents over the age of eighteen were interviewed by telephone April 10-20, 2005. The survey's margin of error is +/- 3.8%.
