NY Spano pushes Gov. Pataki for Stem Cell Bond

"We should be doing what the president is not doing," Spano said in a telephone interview yesterday. "New York has always been a leader in this, and now we are allowing other states to grab a lot of this research. We have some of the best research facilities in this state, and the money should go to them."
Spano said he recently sent the Republican governor a letter outlining his plan. The issue could be before voters as early as November if Pataki moves quickly.
