Stem Cell Research focusing on Deafness

It appears that Dr Marcelo Rivolta from Sheffield University's Molecular Physiology are working with embryonic stem cells to grow new sensory cells within in the inner ear which may lead to cures to certain forms of deafness.

All research thusfar has been limited to in-vitro within the labs. The start of animal testing should be within the next 2 years.
